Aurora Police Reports-Aug. 17

Trespassing: Two Chagrin Falls men, a Shaker Heights man and an Indiana man were charged with criminal trespass Aug. 4 after being found on private property with "no trespassing" signs posted off of Treat Road.

Theft: A Bedford Heights woman was charged Aug. 5 with theft, criminal trespass and resisting arrest after she was apprehended in the parking lot of a South Chillicothe Road business with $644 worth of merchandise not paid for. She then tried to pull away from officers during her arrest, resulting in the resisting charge. She was taken to the Portage County Jail.

Fraudulent incidents: A Yorkshire Drive woman reported Aug. 4 that someone in Oklahoma attempted to buy several phones in her name at an area store. The clerk declined the purchase, and the accounts were closed.

A Chadwick Drive woman reported someone unknown tried to open a checking account in her name, but the account was canceled before being activated.

Drone found: An Aurora man turned in a drone Aug. 6 that his son found in woods near Meadowbrook Drive, and police were keeping it until its owner could be found. The item was valued at $150.

Theft from garage: A Lake Avenue man reported Aug. 7 that while he was out of town, items were taken from his garage, including two bikes, a battery charger and a wheelbarrow. No value was given.

Counterfeit money: An officer picked up a suspended counterfeit $5 bill at Wildwater Kingdom. It was received at a concession stand.


Failure to yield: A Chagrin Falls woman was cited for failing to yield Aug. 4 at 2:10 p.m. Police said she turned left and struck a Streetsboro woman's vehicle on Route 43 near Aurora Farms Premium Outlets. No injuries were reported.

A Mentor man was cited Aug. 6 at 5:50 p.m. for failing to yield after police said he pulled into the West Pioneer Trail-South Bissell Road intersection and collided with an Aurora woman's vehicle. No injuries were reported.

Parking lot crash: Police said on Aug. 8 at 11:15 a.m. a Kent woman pulled out of parking spot at Barrington Town Square and struck an Aurora woman's vehicle. Both women were treated at the scene by Aurora paramedics.
