Aurora Police Reports-Aug. 31

Dispute: An Aurora man was charged with domestic violence Aug. 17. Police said a verbal argument at an East Pioneer Trail residence escalated and turned physical, but the victim refused medical attention. The man was taken to the Portage County Jail.

Thefts: A Lloyd Avenue resident reported Aug. 17 that someone stole tools from his property. No value was given.

A Lake Avenue woman reported Aug. 21 the theft of her daughter's bicycle from the front porch. No value was given.

A visitor to Wildwater Kingdom reported Aug. 20 the theft of a cell phone. No value was given.

Fraudulent incidents: A Robinhood Drive man reported Aug. 18 that he ordered something online and an unknown person obtained his credit card information and made an unauthorized purchase for $250.

A Birchbark Trail man reported Aug. 23 that when he filed his federal income tax return, a return had already been filed in his name. He also reported someone tried to open a credit card in his name.

A Chadwick Drive man reported Aug. 23 he was alerted that an unknown person attempted to or did open a loan in his name.

Warrant arrests: A Cleveland man with three warrants through Aurora police for theft, breaking and entering and failure to appear in court was transferred from Erie Correctional Facility to Aurora custody. He was taken to the Portage County Jail.

A driver's license registration check Aug. 21 yielded a Kent woman with a warrant for an animal violation from Kent police. She was transferred to Kent police custody.

While officers responded to a disturbance call, an Aurora woman appeared at the property and was found to have a warrant through Aurora police for criminal trespassing. She posted bond, was issued a new court date and was released.

Animal complaint: A Cimarron Oval woman reported Aug. 21 she was bitten by a dog while walking. Police said she spoke with the owners about the dog's veterinary records, then drove to Cleveland Clinic-Twinsburg for treatment. The owners told police the electric fence at the property malfunctioned and the dog got loose.


Parking lot accidents: Police said a Kent man pulled into a parking space in a lot on West Garfield Road and struck an Aurora man's parked vehicle Aug. 20 at 8:30 a.m. No injuries were reported.

A private property crash occurred Aug. 17 at 12:50 p.m. when a city of Aurora tractor struck a Streetsboro woman's parked vehicle at Barrington Town Square. No injuries were reported.

Illegal parking: A Mantua man was cited for illegally parking on the fire hydrant side of a street Aug. 24 at 2:30 p.m. after police said an Aurora woman backed out of a Woodview Trail driveway and struck the other vehicle. No injuries were reported.

Rear-end crashes: A Kent man was cited for following too close Aug. 24 at 10:05 a.m. after police said he struck a Cuyahoga Falls man's vehicle from behind on Lake Avenue. No injuries were reported.

An Aurora man was cited for assured clear distance Aug. 8 at 5:30 p.m. after police said he struck another Aurora man's vehicle from behind on East Garfield Road. No injuries were reported.

Car-cycle collision: Police said a Twinsburg woman struck a Bedford motorcyclist on the right rear side July 24 at 7:45 p.m. on East Pioneer Trail. The woman stated she could not see the motorcycle because of sun glare. The woman was taken to Hillcrest Hospital for treatment.

Three-car incident: On Aug. 18 at 7:45 p.m., an Aurora man was cited for ignoring a "no left turn" sign as he turned from North Aurora Road onto Canterbury Drive. A Mantua man stopped behind the turning vehicle was struck from behind by a Streetsboro man's vehicle. The Streetsboro man was cited for assured clear distance. No injuries were reported.
