Aurora Police Reports-Oct. 26

Thefts: An Aurora man reported Oct. 13 that someone stole his wallet from the front seat of his vehicle, which had a window down. It contained a few dollars and some credit cards. Officers told him to inform his credit card company.

A Cleveland woman was charged with theft and tampering with evidence after an alleged shoplifting incident on South Chillicothe Road. Police said she fled the scene, admitted to throwing the stolen merchandise out the window and soon after was apprehended. Value of the recovered items was $179. The woman was taken to the Portage County Jail.

A Birchbark Trail woman reported Oct. 15 the theft of a ring valued at $500.

A Chelmsford Drive woman reported Oct. 12 that an envelope containing a check meant for her was stolen from her porch. The bank canceled the check.

Identity thefts: A Cobblestone Road man reported Oct. 14 that on three occasions someone tried to open a credit card in his name, but the applications were canceled and no transactions were made.

An Ashton Court man reported Oct. 12 that someone used his personal information to purchase four iPhones and opened three credit cards in his name. The accounts were closed with no loss to him.

A Centerville Trail man reported Oct. 12 receiving letters from a financial institution saying someone tried to open credit accounts in his name. The applications were declined.

Vandalism: A Hudson woman reported Oct. 14 that two "for rent" signs on her Aurora-Hudson Road property were destroyed. They were valued at $30 each.

Wrong address: A Kingston Drive woman reported Oct. 13 that a package she was expecting was delivered to the wrong location, but the recipient forwarded it to her unopened.

DUI, other charges: An Aurora man was cited Oct. 13 for driving while intoxicated, assault and resisting arrest. Police said they found him in his parked vehicle with the engine running after getting a call about a man causing a disturbance inside a business. Police said he kicked the arresting officer in the chest and verbally threatened him. He was taken to the Portage County Jail.

Suspended licenses: A Mantua man was cited for driving under suspension and having no front license plate on Oct. 12 at noon on Elliman Road.

A Streetsboro man was cited Oct. 12 at 12:50 p.m. for driving under suspension and having expired plates on Francis D. Kenneth Drive.

Fictitious plates: A Uniontown man was cited Oct. 12 at 10:25 a.m. for having fictitious license plates on a trailer, which was parked until the owner produced proper registration and plates.

Rear-end crashes: No citation was issued and no injuries were reported Oct. 15 at 1:55 p.m. after police said a Beachwood man struck a Chagrin Falls man's vehicle from behind on South Chillicothe Road.

A Streetsboro woman was cited for assured clear distance Oct. 15 at 3 p.m. after police said she struck a Warrensville Heights woman's car from behind on South Chillicothe Road. The Warrensville Heights woman was taken to Cleveland-Twinsburg and the other woman was treated at the scene by Aurora paramedics.

An Aurora woman was cited Oct. 10 at 12:15 p.m. for assured clear distance after police said she struck a Twinsburg woman's car from behind on North Aurora Road. No injuries were reported.

DUI citation: A Streetsboro woman was cited Oct. 19 at 10:50 p.m. for driving under the influence and not maintaining control after police said she went off Route 306, struck five mailboxes and ended up in a ditch. No injuries were reported.
