Lowe's honored

by TheKnot.com

Lowe's Greenhouse in Bainbridge Township, a business owned by an Aurora family, has been selected as a 2017 winner in "The Knot Best of Weddings." It is the fifth year Lowe's has been selected, which places the business in the Hall of Fame.

In 2017, only 2 percent of the 300,000 local wedding professionals listed on TheKnot.com have received this honor. The Knot Best of Weddings is an annual by-couples, for-couples guide to the top wedding professionals across the country.

To determine the winners, The Knot assessed almost one million reviews from couples across various vendor categories -- venues, musicians, florists, photographers and caterers.

Added owner Jeff Griff, "Five of the last seven years we have received this honor from The Knot; we are so excited to be recognized in this way.

Founded in 1926 by Carlton Lowe and then purchased by Griff's grandfather in the 1950s, the business has strived for excellence.

Lowe's Greenhouse is an alumnus of the Weatherhead 100 and FastTrack 50, has been featured on many national garden center educational tours and for eight years in a row has been named one of the country's 100 most revolutionary garden centers.

Tutoring service

offered in homes

Club Z! In-Home Tutoring Services has opened a branch in Northeast Ohio.

Club Z! of the Western Reserve, owned by Dr. Mark Bowles of Cuyahoga Falls, provides individual tutoring to students in their homes, at convenient times to parents and focusing on the curriculum with which they struggle in school.

Bowles said that tutoring is performed in the student's home to provide a comfortable and non-competitive environment for learning.

Bowles has devoted his professional life to education, he said. He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Akron, and his Ph.D. in the history of science from Case Western Reserve University.

He has written 15 books, including three college-level textbooks, and has been a professor of history for the past eight years at the American Military University.

As a parent of three girls, Bowles says he knows the importance of this in-home service.

Club Z! offers tutoring in all core subjects -- reading, math, science and language arts. In addition they offer study skills, SAT, ACT and other assessment test preparation.
